THE THEORY TEST IS ABOUT TO CHANGE.......
From 7th April 2014 the foreign language options for theory and practical tests will cease. The only available theory test voiceover languages will be English or Welsh.
The option for an interpreter to be present in the car on a practical test will also cease.
There is also an article from the DSA about copycat websites offering to book theory and practical tests. These sites are not sanctioned by the DSA and will charge you more than the face value of the actual test.
The DSA theory cost price is £25, and the DSA practical test costs £62, beware of any site that charges you more.
From April 2015 the DSA will be trialling a new driving test from 20 test centres around the country, this will result in some changes to the current test format. So what are the changes ?
The turn in the road and reversing round the corner exercises will be removed and replaced with driving forwards into a parking bay and then reversing back out of it. The parallel parking and bay parking exercises will remain the same. The current independent driving aspect will be replaced with the candidate following sat nav directions for around 20 minutes, also the candidate will be required to pull up on the right hand side of the road, reverse a short distance and then re-join the traffic flow.
As this is currently a DSA trial it could still be changed afterwards if they feel that one or more of the exercises isn't working. When a test is booked online the person will be given the option to choose either the new style test or the current one, that will be their choice.
From January 12th 2015 the new CGI hazard perception clips will be used in the theory test. This will not change anything about the way the test is scored or the pass mark.
